Ivan and Aleks visited the group of Prof Tibor Kudernac as guest researchers at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, during March and April. During their mobility, they received practical training in transmission electron microscopy and participated in the characterization of supramolecular aggregates synthesized at the Ruđer Bošković Institute using TEM and cryo-TEM techniques, in collaboration with Dr Marc Stuart. In addition, preliminary studies were carried out on supramolecular tubular aggregates as potential nanoreactors in aqueous media within a photochemical reaction system involving a model hydrolysis reaction and a selected photoacid. The mobility also enabled the successful integration of the doctoral students’ expertise in synthetic organic chemistry with advanced methods for the characterization of supramolecular materials available in Prof. Kudernac’s group, further strengthening the international scientific collaboration between the two institutions.
